Chicago industrial EBM duo HIDE — vocalist Heather Gabel and percussionist Seth Sher — slither and asphyxiate on their debut LP for DAIS Records, Castration Anxiety. The record, due this Friday, March 23rd — and streaming here for the first time below — is full of body-moving rhythms and hard-hitting synth lines that pulse and echo, slamming with a sparse simplicity and darkness for the duration of the band's 30-plus minute exploration. Castration Anxiety juxtaposes a series of elements that shouldn't fit together: caustic and melodic, danceable yet abrasive, and confrontational yet seductive with its fascinating and well-executed beats and seething vocals.

"I want people to feel afraid," Gabel told us in a recent interview. "I'm afraid of a lot of things and I don't think that that's fair. What these songs are about is turning it back on people who prey on other people. Rapists, marginalizers, oppressors. I want them to feel the way that we do."
