In June, Russian Circles resurfaced with a bulldozing new song "Conduit," a four-and-half-minute rager that leans into the heaviest inclinations of the usually diverse instrumental metal trio. The lead single off the group's upcoming Gnosis LP, it boded well for an album that, according to the band, focuses overall on "physically cathartic pieces."
Today (July 13th), Russian Circles — who include former Botch bassist Brian Cook among their ranks — have popped up again, with the second single off Gnosis, and goddamn if it isn't even more devastating than "Conduit." Talk about "physically cathartic": "Betrayal" aims to destroy speakers with sheets of abrasive feedback and industrial-strength riffage. Blast it above.
Gnosis is due out August 19th via Sargent House. Shortly thereafter, Russian Circles are set to kick off a headlining North American tour beginning September 15th in Minneapolis and wrapping November 12th for a hometown show at Chicago's Metro. See the full itinerary below.
