Hear Stone Temple Pilots Brood and Groove on New Song "The Art of Letting Go"

Grunge icons indulge soft side on ballad off self-titled LP

Stone Temple Pilots are set to release self-titled album, their first with new singer Jeff Gutt (formerly of the alt-metal band Dry Cell), on March 16th. We've already heard two sweltering tracks off the forthcoming LP, "Meadow" and "Roll Me Under." Now, the band is teasing the record's soft side with single number three, "The Art of Letting Go." Driven by a plaintive, swirling guitar lead from axeman Dean DeLeo, the ballad finds the grunge stalwarts swapping the usual gristle for R&B grooves and a whole lotta heart.

Stone Temple Pilots is up for pre-ordering here. It's the band's first album since the deaths of former frontmen Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington.

STP are set to hit the road for a massive North American tour behind their eponymous effort in early March. "With so much time and experience gone by in life we feel compelled to dig back into a 30-year catalog and really try to reflect and choose what songs haven't been performed live," bassist Robert DeLeo says of the trek. "We want to give people who have come to see us in the past a chance to hear something they haven't heard before at previous STP shows. We want to celebrate this time in lives with our performances."
