Even a band as tough and boisterous as Pantera were afraid of Slayer. In an intimate new interview with Gibson TV, Pantera bassist Rex Brown recalled when his band was fortunate enough to be headlining over the thrash lords in the early 2000s, but even with a whole new rig of crazy pyrotechnics, he and his bandmates — Philip Anselmo, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul — were still shaking in their boots when they had to step out onstage after Slayer's furious performance.

"You don't go on after a band like Slayer, Jack, anytime," Brown said. "You better be on top of your game. That was the band we were always scared of — always."

"We had our whole new stage setup," he continued. "Fire shooting out of fucking everything — we told ourselves we'd never do that. But Vinnie wanted it and there you go. Every night you had to be in the right spot. If you missed your point, you were fucking blown up, literally."

So there you have it. Slayer could make a band as hardened as Pantera tremble. See Brown's full interview with Gibson TV below.
