Well, here's a live collaboration we didn't know we needed. Yesterday (September 22nd), at the Louder Than Life festival in Kentucky, Tenacious D welcomed Evanescence's Amy Lee onstage to sing two songs: "Kyle Quit the Band" and "Lee." The first was fitting because the Evanescence singer, a die-hard D fan, covered the tune back in 2021 at home on her couch in video that soon went viral. The second, fitting, because, well, you can figure it out.
If the collision of symphonic goth nu-metal and comedic acoustic rock seems on paper to be a horrible idea, the reality was surprisingly awesome, with Lee belting out her parts with the enthusiasm of a fan whose dream has come true, and Jack Black and Kyle Gass relishing her company and the surreal moment. "Best night ever! Wow!" Lee enthused later on Instagram. Watch fan-shot video above and below.
