Slayer played their last-ever European show on Saturday, August 3rd, in Stuttgart, Germany, and footage above shows the moment when singer-bassist Tom Araya finally told fans goodbye one last time. "We'll miss you guys," the frontman bid the cheering crowd a heartfelt farewell as he waved and tried to say something to them in German before throwing his hands up at one point to say "I can't" in mock frustration.
Supporting the metal pioneers on this show were fellow thrashers Anthrax and Kiwi rising stars Alien Weaponry. Slayer announced the very last leg of their farewell tour back in July — it will include Ministry, Primus and Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals (playing a special Vulgar Display of Pantera set) in the opening spots.
Below, you can watch some fan-filmed clips from the explosive show, along with Instagram posts from Anthrax's Charlie Benante and Frank Bello testifying to the emotion of the moment. Slayer's 21-song set list ranged from throughout the group's career, ending on a high note with their classic ripper "Angel of Death."
