See Slipknot Stop Show to Help Fan: "They Can't Breathe"

Iowa Nine keep crowd at bay so audience member can get medical help

Since last year's Astroworld tragedy that saw 10 concertgoers trampled to death during a raucous Travis Scott performance, artists who play to massive crowds of hyped-up fans have become more conscious of making sure a scary situation like that never happens again. Earlier this year, TOOL stopped their set to help a fan up front get medical attention, and a similar instance occurred during a recent Slipknot show when the band cut the music mid-song so an audience member could be treated by medics.

As footage of the band's April 11th gig Winnipeg shows, Slipknot were in the middle of performing when they suddenly stopped because they realized someone in the massive sea of fans was struggling and needed medical assistance. In video of the incident, as transcribed by Metalsucks, Corey Taylor is seen directing the stadium to keep calm and remain patient while the person in need makes their way to the medics.

"All right, guys, make sure they got room, make sure they got room," he says with authoritative composure. "Everybody back up, give 'em room, give 'em room…Everybody back up. Make some room. They can't breathe if everybody's around them..Hold on, guys, no applause yet. I want to make sure they're okay. I want to make sure they get out of the pit, 100% okay…Make some noise for the medics."

Fortunately, Slipknot were able to see what was going down and they made the right call to stop the performance before someone got seriously hurt. Kudos to them for being professionals. Watch the whole incident go down above via YouTube.
