See THROWDOWN cover SEPULTURA's "Roots Bloody Roots" at first show in 8 years

On the main stage at Furnace Fest

There are a couple of versions of Throwdown kicking around right now. The first popped up this summer under the banner of Beyond Repair and features OG members vocalist Keith Barney and drummer Marc Jackson playing the O.C. veterans' old-school shit, joined by other former members and hardcore luminaries.

The second actually goes by the name Throwdown and features the group's Venom & Tears lineup — vocalist Dave Peters, guitarist Mark Choiniere, bassist Matt Mentley and drummer Ben Dussault — celebrating the 20th anniversary of Haymaker.

That incarnation of the band played their first show since 2015, and first in the U.S. since 2011, taking the main stage at Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama, this past Friday, September 22nd. In addition to a large number of standout Haymaker cuts, this Throwdown broke out a raging Sepultura cover.

The group notably covered the Brazilian metal legends' "Propaganda" on their 2020 Take Cover EP, but at Furnace Fest, they cranked out the tribal nu-metal classic "Roots Bloody Roots" instead. Watch above and check out Throwdown's full setlist (courtesy of Setlist.fm) below.
