It appears that Slipknot are rolling out their new masks. Last week, the nu-metal titans unveiled their pulverizing new song, "The Chapeltown Rag," which is set to appear on a yet-to-be-announced upcoming album. The single followed the surprise-reveal of Corey Taylor's terrifying new mask back in September, and now drummer Jay Weinberg has unveiled his latest visage.
In a cryptic Instagram post he published over the weekend, the band's drummer since 2014 posted a picture of himself donning a horrifying new getup. Previously, Weinberg had been rocking several variations of a tattered mask that had either a zipper or stitches for a mouth, but this one takes a much different approach.
From what we can see, the ghastly visage is entirely white except for two dark rings around the eyes. With a human-like nose and a smooth texture, it looks kind of like Halloween's Michael Myers from the forehead down to the nostrils, which is when the mask splits open around the mouth region and the lips rip apart to form stringy, cobweb-like fibers. It's fucking disturbing.
The photo is accompanied by a quote that's likely a lyric from an unreleased Slipknot song. "I want a face — that you can only recognize — I'm afraid," it reads. So far, Weinberg and Taylor are the only two band members who've unleashed new looks, but keep an eye out for mask reveals for the other seven maniacs.
