Slipknot frontman and horror aficionado Corey Taylor knows a thing or two about scaring people, so naturally he's compiled a playlist of terrifying songs just in time for Halloween today, October 31st, and naturally it rocks.
A trio of Slipknot cuts old and new make the list, but the remainder has a distinctly vintage flair. From the Talking Heads new wave classic "Psycho Killer" to W.A.S.P.'s 1984 ripper "Tormentor," Taylor leans hard into some classic choices. This lines up nicely with his upcoming doc In Search of Darkness, which dives deep into the themes and aesthetics of old-school horror movies, specifically those from the 1980s such as Hellraiser, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play.
In addition to the vintage vibes throughout, Taylor made sure to include some newer-school artists like Ho99o9 (the fantastic "Mega City Nine 9 (unknown virus 4.)") and Refused ("Servants of Death," a deep cut from the band's 2015 comeback record Freedom). Perhaps the least expected choice comes in the form of Concrete Blonde's "Vampire Song," but it blends in beautifully right after Mötley Crüe's cover of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter."
