Michigan rockers Greta Van Fleet already have a rock radio hit on their hands with "When the Curtain Falls," and now they've released an accompanying psychedelic-lite video filmed in the Southern California desert to drive home their Seventies-influenced mystic occult vibe.
The video opens with guitarist Jake Kiszka plugging his axe directly into a rocky cliff before breaking into an undeniably Jimmy Page–inspired riff. Mysterious druid-like figures shrouded in hooded cloaks hear the call of the band's classic-rock grooves and converge upon the desert scene, as planets appear in the daytime sky and infuse their eyes with an otherworldly glow.
The band plays on unperturbed while a solar eclipse brings darkness and a hail of comets streak the sky. The Zeppelin callback is impossible to ignore, from singer Josh Kiszka's high-pitched Plant wail, to the Bonham beats of drummer Danny Wagner. Even down to the very drum kit Wagner plays — an oversized Ludwig — and the Page-inspired jacket on Kiszka, every detail is studied Zeppelin worship.
Greta Van Fleet have yet to release a full-length, but it's expected that this song will end up on one. Until that comes to pass, you can purchase or stream the track here. Their current tour resumes September 7th:
