Watch Slayer Destroy NYC's the Ritz on Reign in Blood Tour in 1986

Thrash titans deliver classic set on landmark trek

On December 6th, 1986, hordes of people from across the Tri-State Area and headed to Manhattan's The Ritz (renamed Webster Hall, and now possibly gone forever?) to catch a rising thrash juggernaut named Slayer lay waste to the crowd on the first date of their three-night stand as part of the Reign in Blood U.S. Tour. Full of piss and vinegar, the classic four-piece laid waste to the capacity crowd, who had no idea that the band's third studio LP would change the trajectory of modern music as we know it. Check out video from the ferocious set above.

The gigs represented a major step in the band's evolution, as only a year and a half prior Slayer were playing second as part of the Ultimate Revenge Tour, a legendary string of dates that saw them sandwiched between headliner Venom and fellow opener Exodus. Check out video from the NYC stop of that trek below, as well.
