"Call the Doctor" appears on Melbourne band's debut EP 'New Vietnam'

There's something about the bands from Melbourne that is positively electric. The Australian city is home to some of the current greatest bands down under, most blossoming out of the incredible punk scene in the area that gave birth to bands as varied as Total Control, Pisschrist, Straightjacket Nation, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and even the great recent entry of Power. CIVIC is another band to bloom out of the concrete, utilizing a post-punk sound with a very punk attitude to create an aggressive — yet aggressively danceable — strain of rock inspired by early waves of punk and pub rock.

CIVIC's "Call the Doctor" is a positively ripping new track with a vaguely dance-y swing yet a snarling punk attitude. It's the kind of track where you're not sure whether to dogpile on the singer for a group singalong, or hang back and grab a tambourine. The track is the subject of a Amy Hill–directed video of the lo-fi sort, heavy on VHS aesthetics and oozing cool out of every pore. Check out the video above for the first time and make sure to cop the band's similarly ripping EP New Vietnam out now on Anti Fade.
