On May 1, the night before the Golden Gods, Newsted—the new band led by former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and featuring Staind guitarist Mike Mushok—kicked off the festivities at the official Golden Gods pre-party. He was supported by heavy-metal band Hysteria and solo artist Christian Martucci. Revolver's own Stephanie Cabral was there to catch all the action. On May 15, Bowery Electric in New York City hosted a release party for the book Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal, which is written by Katherine Turman and Revolver's own Senior Writer Jon Wiederhorn, as well as featuring contributions by Revolver Editor in Chief Brandon Geist. The party featured a book reading, metal trivia, burlesque performances, and a live set by Acrassicauda, stars of the documentary, Heavy Metal in Baghdad. Photographer Stephanie Cabral—whose photos are featured in the book—was there to catch all the action. Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think in the comments.

On April 24, an all-star cast of musicians played at Whisky A Go Go in Pomona, California, as part of the Battlefield of the Mind event. The benefit concert raised money and awareness for the Boot Campaign and their support of military veterans. Artists such as David Ellefson of Megadeth, Troy McLawhorn of Evanescence, Sal G of Staind, and many more performed songs off the Battlefield Of The Mind documentary soundtrack. On April 24, Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde brought his Bringing Metal to the Children book tour to The Depot in Salt Lake City, Utah. Photographer Rob Fenn was there to capture all the action.

On April 13, Bullet For My Valentine and Grammy-winners Halestorm rocked the Saltair in Magna, Utah. Photographer Robb Fenn was there to capture all the action.

Highly-touted Swedish occult rockers Ghost B.C. held one of their patented live rituals at a sold-out El Rey on April 15. It was the kick-off date to their U.S. tour in support of new album, Infestissumam, and a star-studded night—celebs spotted at the show included Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, Chino Moreno of Deftones, Zacky Vengeance of Avenged Sevenfold, Ray Alder of Fates Warning, and Mickey Dee of Motörhead. Lizzy Borden and White Wizzard had the the Whisky A GoGo painted blood red on April 13. The show was the first headlining Lizzy Borden gig in L.A. in over a decade and the kickoff performance of their 30th Anniversary tour. Our own Stephanie Cabral was there to catch the action.
