World-renowned surrealist Vincent Castiglia opened his solo art exhibition, entitled "Resurrection," on October 4th at Sacred Gallery NYC. Castiglia creates his paintings exclusively in his own blood and is the first American artist to receive a solo exhibition invitation from Oscar Award-winning artist H.R. Giger in the history of the H. R. Giger Museum Gallery. Vincent painted album art for Eparistera Daimones, the 2010 debut album from Triptykon, the heavy-metal band led by former Hellhammer and Celtic Frost singer-guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer. Check out photos from the opening below.

Thrash vets Death Angel recently played famed Sunset Strip club the Whisky for the first time—thrash wasn't allowed there in the '80s. Amid a set full of originals, the band also played a cover-song medley, which included cuts from Van Halen, Quiet Riot, and Mötley Crüe. Our own Stephanie Cabral was there, too, capturing all the action. Check out her pics below.

Revolver just returned from Rock & Shock, where we celebrated Halloween (our favorite holiday) and promoted our latest special issue, Rock! Shock! and Horror!, which is available online here.

This yearly horror convention takes place at the DCU Convention Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, and blends horror with music, allowing fans to meet their favorite horror film stars, directors, writers and bands during the day — and rock out at every night to well-known national bands performing next door at The Palladium.

Check out our photos of some of the bands who performed, including Gwar, The Misfits, DevilDriver, Vampires Everywhere! and Shadows Fall. For the full 2012 lineup, check out Rock & Shock's website here.

Returning to the stage after a more-than-12-year hiatus, death-metal band Broken Hope played with Obituary in Hollywood, California, on November 27. They even had some special backstage guests including Slayer's Dave Lombardo, DevilDriver's Jeff Kendrick, and Megadeth's Chris Broderick. Our own Stephanie Cabral was there, too, capturing all the action. Check out her pics below. And under the gallery, see a bonus photo of the band hanging out with Metallica's Kirk Hammett at the San Francisco date of the tour.
