Late last year, TOOL launched their first-ever statue offering, a half-sized "Fetus in Skull" maquette inspired by visionary artist Alex Grey's "Skull Fetus" artwork(s) for 2001's Lateralus and 2006's 10,000 Days. TOOL fans being TOOL fans, the deluxe edition signed by the band and retailing for $999 sold out almost immediately. Last week, they launched another, and this one is fucking life-sized, representing a more realistic and finished version of the original "study," according to the band.
Initially, the band had only shared a photo mockup of the shiny noggin, but today (March 22nd) they've shared a 360-degree video detailing every angle of the mystical cranium. The clip shows the skull rotating on some kind of turret as a gloved hand caresses the exterior with the tender care of a museum worker handling ancient artifacts. Check it out below.
Limited quantities of this bizarre and freakish new piece go on sale this Friday March 24th, and you can order yours from the band's online shop.
