On December 11th, Pantera performed at Knotfest Chile in Santiago without OG bassist Rex Brown. Cattle Decapitation's Derek Engemann — who also notably plays with Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo in both the singer's solo band, the Illegals, and his black-metal side project Scour — filled in for most of the set, with Bobby Landgraf (Honky, ex-Down) jumping in for the final song.

According to reports, Brown had contracted COVID-19 leading up to the band's fourth show in over 20 years, and now, the man himself has broke his silence to give fans a reassuring message about his health condition.

"I caught a very mild strain of COVID, but because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick," Brown wrote in a statement shared on Pantera's social media. "I'm feeling better and am on my way to a speedy recovery. Merry Fckn Christmas and see you all next year!"
