At long last, The Crow reboot is imminent. After years of false starts, the remake of the 1994 cult-classic film finally got underway back in 2022, and now it's set to arrive in theaters on June 7th.
Bill Skarsgård, a.k.a. Pennywise the Clown in the recent It horror movies, stars as undead antihero Eric Draven, while alternative R&B star FKA Twigs plays his lover Shelly Webster. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell, Foundation) is directing, and Zach Baylin, who nabbed an Oscar nomination for King Richard, penned the script.
Today (February 28th), Vanity Fair has given fans an exclusive first look at Skarsgård and Twigs in action, and it looks we're in store for an interesting, modern twist on the Nineties original.
Skarsgård's getup differs pretty significantly from OG Crow star Brandon Lee, with the Swedish actor donning a mulleted hairdo and face tattoos. From what we can see, Twigs' costume looks a little more current, too, while still capturing the essence of the original Shelly.

The Crow, of course, is based on the acclaimed comic book by James O'Barr, which was first adapted for the screen as the iconic 1994 film starring Lee as Draven, a murdered musician who returns from the dead to avenge his fiancée's killing.
The movie is particularly infamous due to Lee's tragic death after he struck by a bullet from a prop gun on set. It's also notable for having one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, featuring exclusive cuts by Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, the Cure, Rage Against the Machine and more.
Though the movie spawned three sequels — 1996's The Crow: City of Angels and two direct-to-video follow-ups, The Crow: Salvation in 2000 and The Crow: Wicked Prayer — a modern reboot has been cursed. Most recently, a prospective new film starring Jason Momoa as Draven fell apart in 2018.
We probably won't have to wait long for an official trailer of the 2024 Crow reboot, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.
