Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates suffered a leg injury onstage last night (July 19th) that frontman M. Shadows described as "pretty severe."

While performing in Mansfield, Massachusets, on the second night of their Life Is but a Dream... tour, the band were in the middle of their song "The Stage" when Gates suddenly walked off while his bandmates carried out the rest of the song. The band then took a 20-minute pause to address the situation, and ended up having to skip their encore due to time constraints.

After the performance, Shadows elaborated on Gates' condition in Avenged Sevenfold's Discord server.

"Synyster Gates is back and [it] seems like a pretty severe contusion of his calf," Shadows wrote. "He's got crutches and can't walk on it at the moment. Gonna be sore for a few days.

"Doc said it could be from dehydration, possibly last night's show, the heat and not enough water today. Bottom line is he's watching it closely and hopefully be able to stand on it soon."

Shadows also added that the band won't be canceling any shows, so it seems like Gates will be pushing through the pain for tomorrow night's gig (July 21st) in Quebec City and beyond.
