Hear DOLLY PARTON go glam-metal on first single from new rock album 'Rockstar'

"World on Fire" boasts heavy-ish guitars and thunderous drums

We didn't have "metalheads caring about a new Dolly Parton album" on our 2023 bingo cards, but here we are. Earlier this week, the country superstar announced that she'll be releasing her first-ever rock album later this year.

Aptly-titled Rockstar, it's a a star-studded, 30-song opus that boasts features from Judas Priest's Rob Halford, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and many other rock icons.

Today (May 11th), she's giving fans a taste by dropping its lead single, "World on Fire." And yes, we can confirm that this is indeed a rock song.

Glam-metal guitars, thunderous drums, and uproarious lyrics inspiring political resilience are all over this tune, which doesn't feature any big-name guests but does live up to its over-the-top artwork of Dolly sitting on a burning globe. Listen above via YouTube.

"This is a song I felt very inspired to write," Dolly said in a statement. "I think it speaks about everything and to everyone this day and time. I hope it is something that will touch you and maybe touch enough people to want to make a change for the better."

Rockstar is out November 17th via Parton's own Butterfly Records.
