Hear HALESTORM's LZZY HALE join "thrash grass" act NATIVE HOWL on "Mercy"

Powerhouse singer guests on new single

The Native Howl are Michigan band that play a unique style of heavy music they call "thrash grass" for its mix of ripping thrash metal and twangy bluegrass. They've been kicking around since 2013, but got their big break in 2022 when they won the first season of Hit Parader's No Cover reality competition series and the prize of a contract with Sumerian Records.

One of the judges on that show was Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale, and she guests on Native Howl's new single, a raucous redux of the group's song "Mercy," which dates back in 2019.

"I fell in love with Native Howl from the moment they walked onstage at the Troubadour," Hale commented, remembering the band's No Cover audition. "I could feel their energy before they even played the first note. For those few minutes of performance I was entertained in a way I haven't felt in years. These boys are doing something special, unapologetically… and that is the magic.

"I was a judge on the show No Cover, but not when these boys played, I was, and forever will be a fan. The only thing sweeter than their incredible mashup of influence and top-tier musicianship, is their big hearts. Good luck world… The Native Howl are about to set you on fire."

The new Lzzy Hale-assisted version of "Mercy" is the Native Howl's second single for Sumerian, following up "Sons of Destruction," which was released in August 2022.
