Hear PALLBEARER's first new song in 4 years "Where the Light Fades"

A stirring, emotional doom epic

Pallbearer are back. The Arkansas doom-metal quartet have announced their first new album in four years, Mind Burns Alive, and unveiled its somber, heartfelt lead single, "Where the Light Fades."

The six-and-a-half-minute doom elegy arrived accompanied by a striking video directed by Dan Almasy that, like the song, is an exercise in contrasting light and dark. Watch and listen above.

"These songs are a deeper exploration of dynamics and sonic color than anything we have done up to this point," vocalist-guitarist Brett Campbell commented. "I'm of the belief that true heaviness comes from emotional weight, and sometimes sheer bludgeoning isn't the right approach to getting a feeling across."

He added that the song are "vignettes that tell the stories of people who deal with myriad sicknesses of the spirit… illnesses communicated by the world we live in, and the subjects are the symptoms of the disease."

Mind Burns Alive is due out May 17th via Nuclear Blast and available for pre-order now.

In addition to launching the new album, Pallbearer has also announced the "Temporary Spaces North American Tour" with support from the Keening, Rwake, REZN, and Inter Arma. You can check out the full itinerary below and purchase tickets here.
