"Africa" by Toto is one of the most ubiquitous pop songs of the 1980s, a yacht-rock touchstone that you're still likely to hear out at bars and on department store playlists to this day. Now, Abiotic's John Matos has remade "Africa" for the mosh pit.
The internet-famous guitarist has reconfigured "Africa" into a deathcore banger that features none other than Suicide Silence frontman Eddie Hermida on the mic, and current Job For a Cowboy drummer Mike Caputo (formerly of Rings of Saturn and Brand of Sacrifice).
If you didn't know you were listening to, you might not recognize this version of the Toto classic as "Africa." Blast-beats, demonic screams, shreddy lead guitars and breakdowns galore typify this brutal rendition, but the music video — a hellish parody of the iconic "Africa" visual — gives it away.
