Knocked Loose are one of the biggest bands in hardcore, and frontman Bryan Garris is at the point where he's guesting onstage with 30 Seconds to Mars and hopping on tracks with Motionless in White.

But the dude still has his ear to the fucking ground. In a new interview with Kerrang!, Garris was asked to pick his favorite new band, and he ended up selecting Torture, a menacingly heavy slam-core project whose 2023 album Enduring Freedom has quite a buzz right now in the heavy-hardcore underground.

Below, see what Garris had to say about them.

Torture

My favorite new band is this band Torture, I think they're from Wisconsin. As far as I know it's one person. They write and record everything and they have a bunch of projects out on Bandcamp.

But last year they released a project called Enduring Freedom and it's just, like, the most ignorant, heavy slam music. And this person just wrote the entire thing. I think drums first, which is really interesting, and then goes over [it] with guitar and vocals.

And it's just so heavy but it's so smart and big brain. It's dancey and it's technical and it kind of just checks so many different boxes.

M and our guitar player Isaac went down to FYA [hardcore festival] in Florida at the beginning of this year and it was like a 12-hour drive and we probably listened to Torture a good five hours of that 12-hour drive.
