METALLICA wins Best Metal Performance Grammy for "72 Seasons"

Beating Disturbed, Ghost and more

The results are in: The metal trophy has been doled out at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, and surprising no one, the almighty Metallica have taken home the 2024 title of Best Metal Performance category. The win was for the song "72 Seasons" from the LP of the same name. (For those who are new to this, "performance" refers to a single song rather than a full album.)

The other acts Metallica beat for the hardware are Disturbed, Ghost, Slipknot and Spiritbox.

Best Metal Performance is the only metal-specific category, but this year Metallica were also nominated in the Best Rock Album (for 72 Seasons) and Best Rock Performance ("Lux Æterna") categories.

Four of the five Best Metal Performance nominees are seasoned vets by now, but this was Spiritbox's first time in Grammy land.
