Between the A Perfect Circle catalog and his own solo discography, Billy Howerdel has been a prolific songwriter for years. In a recent interview with Kerrang!, he was looking back on the "The 10 Songs That Changed My Life," and after reminiscing on some of his childhood favorites and a particularly insane tale from his days as a Nine Inch Nails guitar tech, he ended up picking the song that he's most proud of writing.

While he obviously had many options to choose from, the one he ended up going with was "Orestes," a track from A Perfect Circle's 2000 debut, Mer de Noms

"To me, it's the overture for A Perfect Circle," Howerdel said of the song. "You get the picture of where we're coming from as a band. I'm particularly proud of that track, and it's the one song that my father, who passed away in 2000, commented on and said he liked. Getting accolades or acknowledgement, especially about music, from a hard-to-please dad seals the deal on that one."

Take a listen to the song below, and after the jump, check out Howerdel's recent appearance on our "Fan First" podcast, in which he opened up about Guns N' Roses, his relationship with Maynard James Keenan, and much more.
