Read biting lyrics to QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's new song "Emotion Sickness"

Seemingly drawn from real-life tough times

The long wait for new Queens of the Stone Age music ended today. Following a few creepy teaser videos and some Reddit rumors, Josh Homme and Co. finally offered up the lead single to their upcoming album, In Times New Roman…, and it's a doozy: funky, cool, dark and twisted in that signature QOTSA way.

The lyrics hit hard, and it's pretty much impossible to read them without thinking of Homme's recent personal struggles, particularly his bitter divorce and child custody battle with ex-wife Brody Dalle, of the Distillers. The chorus goes, "Baby don't care for me/Had to let her go," after all, and lines like, "Go and get some, girl/Put up a fight/Well, let's have it right now," seem to allude to those tough times.
