Alice in Chains returned with a bang last year with their first LP in five years, the Grammy-nominated Rainier Fog. Since then, they've been rolling out an episodic sci-fi horror film, Black Antenna, based around the songs on the record, and telling the story of an extraterrestrial father-and-daughter team who find themselves out of place and hunted by malevolent forces on Earth. In contrast to that project, the new Peter Darley Miller–directed music video for Rainier Fog's title track, which premiered today, takes a decidedly more lighthearted approach, with the band members sporting awesome fake beards, adopting a beer bottle and cavorting with a simian friend.
"In a world where things are becoming increasingly serious, with 'Rainier Fog' we have continued our long tradition of making asses out of ourselves in videos," drummer Sean Kinney commented. "So for all of you that were raised bottle-fed, this one is for you. Mission accomplished."
"We had a blast making the 'Rainier Fog' music video, which continues the northwest theme of the record," singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell added. "We hope you enjoy it and have a laugh."
The Seattle grunge icons have a big summer ahead of them, much of which they'll be spending with nu-metal godfathers Korn on one of the hottest — and most unlikely — co-headlining tours of the season, starting July 18th in Del Valle, Texas.
