Babymetal could have been a flash-in-the-pan one-hit novelty band based on the viral success of 2013's "Gimme Chocolate!!" Instead, six years later, they're setting records and playing bigger venues than ever. In October, their latest album, Metal Galaxy, hit No. 1 on both Billboard's Top Rock Albums charts — a first for any Asian artist — and on the Hard Rock Albums chart, a spot last held by someone of Asian descent when System of a Down singer Serj Tankian's solo album Elect the Dead landed there in 2007. (Tankian was born in Lebanon to parents of Armenian descent and then moved to the U.S. at age seven.) Also in October, Babymetal played their first-ever U.S. headlining arena show, at the Forum in Los Angeles, and footage from that milestone performance appears in the group's new music video for Metal Galaxy standout "Da Da Dance." Watch above. Babymetal have a heavy year of touring ahead of them in 2020 — for dates, visit the band's official website.
