See CHRIS DAUGHTRY play acoustic cover of SLEEP TOKEN's "Chokehold"

'American Idol' star takes on the viral metal song

If you were wondering when Sleep Token would get big enough to break beyond metal, that time is now. Daughtry singer Chris Daughtry — the mainstream rocker who rose to fame as an American Idol contestant in 2006 — is not only aware of the mysterious U.K. band, but is so keen on their viral 2023 single "Chokehold" that he played an acoustic cover of it during a recent show.

The multi-platinum Daughtry played a solemn rendition of "Chokehold" during his March 27th set at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and if you didn't know otherwise, you might think it was one of Daughtry's own ballads.

Check out the performance above via YouTube, and hear the original version of "Chokehold" below. Sleep Token's long-awaited new album, Take Me Back to Eden, arrives May 19th and "Chokehold" is in the tracklist.
