See Rage Against the Machine Play 'Godzilla' Soundtrack Song "No Shelter" for First Time in 15 Years

Rap-metal titans hadn't busted out takedown of corporate cinema since 2007

Two nights ago in Chicago (July 11th), Rage Against the Machine played the second show of their historic, long-awaited comeback tour. The performance was heroic for several reasons — it featured plenty of timely political messaging, an amazing setlist, and their singer, Zack de la Rocha, playing through the pain of an apparent leg injury. Last night (July 12th), the band returned to the stage at Chicago's United Center and busted through another scorching set of songs from all throughout their discography — including the track "No Shelter," their contribution to the soundtrack of the 1998 Godzilla movie, which they hadn't played in 15 years.

According to Setlist.fm, the band hadn't busted out the politically-charged cut — which we just deemed one of 10 criminally underrated Rage songs — since 2007, and before that they hadn't played it live since 2000. It's definitely an unfairly overlooked song in the band's catalog, but its amazingly bold lyrics calling out the very titans of corporate cinema who cut the check to include it on Godzilla: The Album make it an essential part of the Rage canon.
