Spiritbox are officially a foursome. Last year, the band helmed by singer Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer, alongside drummer Zev Rosenberg,  parted ways with their longtime bassist Bill Crook, who had been playing with the band since 2018. Upon his departure, Spiritbox tapped former As I Lay Dying bassist Josh Gilbert to fill the four-string spot in the live lineup, and now they've confirmed that he's become a full-time member of the rising alt-metal titans.

Spiritbox aren't the type of band who make grand announcements about this kind of thing, but they posted a new press photo yesterday (April 12th) on social media with the caption "Spiritbox 2023." The photo included Gilbert alongside the other core members, and when one Twitter user asked if that means Gilbert had become an "official member," LaPlante chimed in, "Yes he is!"

This is just the latest development in the new era Spiritbox are entering. Earlier this week, they kicked off their first ever headlining tour, and they've been playing an unreleased song allegedly titled "The Void" on each stop. In our spring 2023 cover story, LaPlante revealed that new music is written and that she hopes Spiritbox release some of it in the first half of 2023.
