Tom G. Warrior is nothing short of prolific. Between Hellhammer, Celtic Frost and Triptykon, the Swiss musician is behind some of the most seminal works in extreme-music history.

But with such an esteemed pedigree comes a decently high barrier to entry. Triptykon have released two full-length albums, a live LP, an EP, a single and two box sets in their 15-plus years as a band, so for Warrior fans who've yet to make it past Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, what's the ideal song to serve as an entry point into Triptykon?

It's a tough question, but Warrior has his answer below.

"Abyss Within My Soul"

"Abyss Within My Soul" contains most elements that define the approach, sound and lyrics of Triptykon. I personally like it for the fact that it's a fusion of black-metal elements, hard-rock and early new wave.

The earliest ideas for this song arose when I was reading David Meltzer's compendium Death. I became drawn infinitely to some of the more introspective revelations of the essays and poems contained therein, and this, in turn, led to my own interpretation of some of these themes.
