Having completely owned 2019, Tool are now ready to stake their claim on 2020, kicking off the second leg of their North American tour behind last year's smash comeback album Fear Inoculum. Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey did so yesterday, January 10th, at San Diego, California's Viejas Arena, with one-man industrial-doom band and Revolver favorite Author & Punisher opening the show. The psych-metal masters captivated fans with a 14-song set, spanning from cuts off 1996's Ænima to a sampling of Fear Inoculum's long-form prog convolutions to a partial cover of Rush's "A Passage to Bangkok" played in tribute to drummer Neil Peart, whose death was revealed earlier in the day and who was a huge inspiration for Carey. See the full setlist below (courtesy of setlist.fm), as well as some standout fan-shot videos of the band's send-off to Peart, and of their final song, "Stinkfist," during which cameras were officially allowed.

Tool's current run is set to wrap February 1st in New Orleans before the quartet heads down under for a month-long trek through Australian and New Zealand. The group's only other 2020 live date confirmed so far is a headlining slot at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June.
