Alongside more famed bands like Korn and Deftones, Coal Chamber were right on the front lines of the insurgent California nu-metal scene back in the early Nineties. Revolver correspondent Christina Rowatt caught up with frontman Dez Fafara to get his personal recollections of that "visceral, dangerous" era, including the story behind Coal Chamber's signature song "Loco" and its iconic music video, why he left then returned to the band before they were even signed, and the period during which all four members lived together in a tiny, 600-square-foot apartment in Hollywood. These are the gnarly origins of Coal Chamber.
