Code Orange's Shade: Nine Inch Nails' 'Broken' Film Is "Scariest" Video I've Ever Seen

Code Orange's Shade Balderose is quickly becoming one of the most interesting, creatively ambitious characters in metal: from his guitar-wielding, power-electronic-pushing musical contributions to the Pittsburgh band's sound to his industrial remix work to his emerging video-directing skills. Considering these interests, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he's also a big fan of Nine Inch Nails — after all Trent Reznor and Co. are the OGs of aggressively, and artfully, doing whatever the fuck they want and rising to the top of the pack because of their defiance. Balderose recently sat down with us to share his thoughts on why NIN's disavowed, viral VHS "snuff" film, Broken, is "the scariest music video I've ever seen in my life" and how it inspires him "to make something that has the same impact."
