Atlanta-based metalcore act Norma Jean will release its new album, 'Polar Similar,' on September 9 via Solid State Records. In anticipation, the band has teamed up with Revolver to premiere its new song, "Synthetic Sun." Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!
Vocalist Cory Brandan said, "'Synthetic Sun' is one of our favorite songs to play from the record. It was a lot of fun to write being that it's a bit more technical in spots and a song that we actually recorded a lot differently than the other songs as well—using lower gain settings on our amps, playing with our fingers instead picks in spots, stuff like that. It's a very different song behind the scenes of 'Polar Similar.' The song deals with watching a very close loved one destroy themselves and feeling helpless in their wake. Seeing someone stop being the person you used to know and change or move into something else."

Avatar's Johannes Eckerström dropped by Revolver HQ to talk about the Swedish metal act's new album, 'Feathers & Flesh,' the 'South Park' cover of "I've Got Something in My Front Pocket for You," the fan reaction to him performing dressed as a clown, and much more! There probably aren't too many bands or artists who love it when their concert audiences spend more time staring at their phones—or taking duck-face selfies—than watching the band perform.
FYI: Corey Taylor of Slipknot hates it.
In fact, he's pretty much adopted the policy of destroying any phones he sees at his shows. "I see it every once in a while," Taylor told radio station WRIF in 2014. "People don't do it so much at our shows, and if they do, they do it from quite a ways back, because I empty whole water bottles into people as soon as I see them staring at their phone or tweeting or whatever."
Which brings us to an incident that took place at a Slipknot show this past weekend. In the photos and (very brief) video below, watch as Taylor smacks the phone out of a front-row fan's hand. The fan was texting at the time.
Taylor has been discussing the incident with fans on Twitter.
