For fans of EARTH: Hear ZOMBI's spacey new blues-metal song "The Post-Atomic Horror"

Instrumental duo announce new album for Relapse Records

Pittsburgh instrumental duo Zombi have a new album on the way. The long-running band of musicians Steve Moore and AE Paterra will be releasing Direct Inject via Relapse Records later this spring, marking their first LP since 2020's aptly titled 2020.

The duo's sound has always floated somewhere between space-rock, prog, doom-metal and 70s film score eeriness à la John Carpenter or Tangerine Dream, but the new album's first single, "The Post-Atomic Horror," has a serious metal throughline in it.

Fans of instrumental metal giants Earth will definitely find something to enjoy in its fluid, synth-adorned groove, and there's a big riff at the center of it that sounds great while coming out the speakers at high volume.

"'The Post-Atomic Horror' is a very fun song for us to play," Paterra said in a press release. "No trappings from our machines, just bass and drums, as stripped down as we can be.

"Definitely one for us to lean into on stage — a few minutes of riffs and wide open drums."

Direct Inject is due out March 22nd via Relapse Records, and pre-orders are available here
