Hear SERJ TANKIAN channel SYSTEM OF A DOWN's heavier side on new BEAR McCREARY song

Fittingly titled "Incinerator"

Award-winning film and TV composer Bear McCreary is best known for scoring Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. He's also a massive fucking metalhead.

For his new solo album, The Singularity, McCreary recruited a murderer's row of metal and hard-rock icons to guest on his songs: Guns N' Roses' Slash, Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Anthrax's Scott Ian, Soundgarden's Kim Thayil, Meshuggah's Jens Kidman and many others.

That all-star roster includes System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian, who channels his main band's heavier side on the album's blazing first single "Incinerator." The song notably also includes drumming by The Atomic Clock himself, Gene Hoglan (Death, Dethklok, Testament, etc.).

"Once I heard Serj's searing vocals, I knew immediately that 'Incinerator' would be the first song on the album, acting like a warning that a massive, aggressive, and emotional journey lay ahead," McCreary commented.

Tankian added: "When I got the music, when I got this song specifically, I was blown away. It's explosive."

This isn't the first time McCreary and Tankian have collaborated. In 2019, the two connected for a cover of Blue Öyster Cult's "Godzilla" for soundtrack to Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the score to which McCreary composed. You can check that out below.

The Singularity is due out May 10th and available for pre-order now.
