Ahead of their imminent European and U.K. tour together, metal heavyweights Lamb of God and Kreator have unleashed their long-in-the-works collaborative single, "State of Unrest," which shares its name with the trek. It's a headbanging, chant-along rager that encompasses the catchiest elements of both the Virginian groove-metal leaders and their German thrash counterparts. Blast it above.
The backstory on the collab is that the two bands began working on it several years ago, intending to release it to herald a planned 2020 European/U.K. tour together with Power Trip, who were originally supposed to contribute to the song, as well. The pandemic delayed the run, and then in August 2020, Power Trip frontman Riley Gale suddenly died before he could lay down his vocals for the cut. Municipal Waste have since been added to the tour in Power Trip's place, but considering the tragic circumstances, all proceeds from "State of Unrest" will go to Dallas Hope Charities, a non-profit that was near and dear to Gale's heart and that has been accepting donations in his name.
"It's been a long time coming and now that the State of Unrest tour is about to kick off, we think it's worthy of a celebration!" Lamb of God commented in a joint statement. "We are super proud to unveil a historic, creative collaboration between Lamb of God and Kreator: the brand new, all original song 'State of Unrest.'
"As many of you may know, the State of Unrest tour originally included Power Trip on the bill. To honor the memory of our friend Riley Gale, all proceeds from the 'State of Unrest' single will go to Dallas Hope Charities, a non profit organization who Riley worked closely with, providing shelter & resources to homeless LGBTQ young people in his beloved hometown. We hope you enjoy this special song and we are grateful for your support."
