Hottest Chicks

Last summer, Alizee Defan ran a contest — or simply created a few videos — dubbed "Battle of the Best Female Guitarists in the World."

True to their titles, the clips certainly do feature some fine fretwork courtesy of a host of guitarists, including Jessica Gardlund (pictured above) and, well, lots of other people whose names we can't seem to locate in the clips (although the Iron Maidens' Nita Strauss and Courtney Cox make an appearance, as does young French guitarist Tina S. You'll also see bassist Tal Wilkenfeld, who is, again, a bassist ...).

Check out the videos below!

Kobra and the Lotus frontwoman Kobra Paige is a classically trained vocalist with a vibrato like a razor and a fiery devotion to the works of her ancestors. Her band's newest full-length is about as close to a classic Iron Maiden or Judas Priest album as it's possible to get without actually taking place in 1977. The Canadian heavy-metal outfit's dual-guitar riffing is vintage, its imagery is choice—lots of infected bullet holes, fortune-telling witches, and vows of retribution. It's all solid enough to suggest the group will find its own footing eventually; until then, they're one hell of a tribute band. ALLISON STEWART

NITA-STRAUSS-AND-AMPS_1.jpg

Guitarist Nita Strauss has officially joined the Alice Cooper band.

Strauss, who made her name with the Iron Maidens, Femme Fatale and LA Kiss, takes the place of Orianthi in the band.

The band — which also features guitarists Ryan Roxie and Tommy Henriksen, plus bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel — will hit the road in North America this summer, and you can check out their itinerary below the YouTube player.

Strauss is a long-time Ibanez signature series endorsee.

You can watch her in the video below, where she engages in some shred insanity with Courtney Cox of the Iron Maidens!

For more about Strauss, read our 2012 interview with her.

You can also follow her on Facebook.

Self-described "black pop" outfit Love, Robot will release their album 'B.A.D.' on June 24. In anticipation, the group has teamed with Revolver to premiere the song "Teeth." Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments.

"'Teeth' is about the final straw, calling someone out on their bullshit and walking away," frontwoman Alexa San Roman says. "The vibe of the song is a mixture of anger and disappointment, having such hope for someone and then realizing that no matter how much you try to help, they're just going to go off and do whatever they want to. It's very to the point—this is what you did, this is how I feel, and that's all there is to say."

Arch Enemy have released a new music video, for the song, "No More Regrets." Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments! The band's latest album, War Eternal, is out today. The record is the group's first with new vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, former frontwoman of The Agonist, who replaced longtime singer Angela Gossow.

In anticipation of this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival—which we cover in our June/July 2014 issue, on newsstands now—we asked some of the tour's previous participants to share their craziest memories from the experience and to give their best advice to this year's performers. Below, Huntress frontwoman Jill Janus sounds off.

REVOLVER What is your favorite or craziest memory of last year's Mayhem Fest?
JILL JANUS My craziest memory was our bus breaking down. Twice. Our bus mates were Battlecross, team players all the way. The heat was so vicious, our bus couldn't handle the hottest days. The A/C would go out first, all electric in the bus next, then the smell of burning rubber. Overheating was typical, but when it broke down the second time, we had to leave the bus with a mechanic for repairs, then rent an SUV and van. We traveled like this for about a week, then got the bus back. Turns out the bus was way behind on inspections and didn't have back breaks. Shit happens.

What advice do you have for this year's bands?
The best advice I can give bands on Mayhem Fest is don't drink too much water! Sounds crazy, but the problem I encountered in brutally hot temperatures was drinking too much water and flushing out my body's salt. So I got heat stroked twice. A trick I picked up was carrying a salt shaker to side stage and putting a little salt on my tongue before I performed, and washing that back with water. No more heat strokes. And seriously, take advantage of those free Rockstar
Energy Drinks!

What does it mean to you to have been a part of something like Mayhem Fest?
Being part of Mayhem Fest is obviously a killer boost for visibility and fan base, but more than all that, it's like being part of a family. Everyone looks out for each other and there's a newfound camaraderie with bands you've admired for years. Once you're inside this touring machine, all the noise from the outside world dies down; you start to realize as you climb the ranks in metal, opinions of outsiders don't matter. The trolls and negativity disappear, and you truly know you're living the dream.

Female-fronted post-hardcore outfit Fine Fine Titans have teamed up with Revolver to premiere the music video for their song "Ellipsis." The track is off the group's new EP, Omega, which is currently available on iTunes. Check out the clip below and let us know what you think in the comments.

"The lyrics in 'Ellipsis' reflect on a relationship where a woman feels trapped and spellbound by a man who is flighty in his affection," frontwoman Jennifer Bartlett says of the song. "Often soaring onto the next convenient opportunity, he secretly thrives off the attention he gets by loving and leaving and although she is well aware of the manipulation, the spell is deeply infectious. So for this video, we wanted to focus on how the turmoil of that relationship affected her emotional and mental state and leads to her desperation to break free from those ties of the past."
