Over the past year and a half, the hard-rock and metal community has suffered extraordinary losses: from Avenged Sevenfold's the Rev to Ronnie James Dio, from Slipknot's Paul Gray to Type O Negative's Pete Steele. Revolver paid tribute to these Fallen Heroes in print in the January/February issue and also in video form at the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards this past April. You can watch that video below.

Also, remember to pick up the May/June issue of Revolver, out May 24, to read the Golden Gods cover story and tune into VH1 Classic at 10 P.M. EST to watch an hour of highlights from the award show.

Avenged Sevenfold debuted their new video for the track "So Far Away" earlier today via MTV. The video, directed by Wayne Isham, was described by the band as a "raw and emotional" tribute to the band's late drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Sullivan died on December 28, 2009 of an apparent drug overdose, during the writing of what became the band's latest album, Nightmare. The band chose to replace the Rev termporarily with his favorite drummer, Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, who appeared on Nightmare and subsequent tour dates. Check out the video for "So Far Away" below!
