Metallica have announced a "Hit the Stage" contest, in which local bands in five markets will have a chance to win an opening spot on the band's forthcoming 'Worldwired' summer tour, which kicks off on May 10 in Baltimore, M.D. and will conclude in Edmonton, A.B. on August 16. The full itinerary, which will see support from Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira on varying dates, is available here.

Said the band in a statement on Metallica.com: "Since we've had so much fun checking out local bands in other parts of the world (Central/South America, Copenhagen and Mexico City), it only seems natural to invite all of you to once again voice your opinion and help us choose a band with a click of your mouse."

Local talent is being scouted in the following cities:

May 19 - Foxborough, M.A. @ Gillette Stadium (with Volbeat)
June 04 - St. Louis, M.O. @ Busch Stadium (with Volbeat)
June 14 - San Antonio, T.X. @ Alamodome (with Avenged Sevenfold)
June 16 - Dallas, T.X. @ AT&T Stadium (with Avenged Sevenfold)
June 18 - Chicago, I.L. @ Soldier Field (with Avenged Sevenfold)

There will be two phases in the voting process. To cast their vote for phase one, fans can visit the sites of the following radio partners for each respective market:

KEGL (Dallas, T.X.)
WLUP (Chicago, I.L.)
KISS (San Antonio, T.X.)
KPNT (St. Louis, M.O.)

The partner for the May 19 date in Foxborough, M.A. has yet to be announced.

Two finalists from each city will move onto round two, in which fans can once again cast their vote on Metallica.com starting on April 14. The five winners will be selected on April 24.

A Perfect Circle have signed a worldwide record deal with BMG and will be releasing a full-length studio album through the label later this year, which they are currently working on in the studio.

Founding member and guitarist Billy Howerdel commented: "We just signed a new record deal with BMG! Looking forward to sharing new music with you soon. New APC-2017!"

"We're thrilled to welcome A Perfect Circle to BMG and excited to present their highly anticipated new music to the world," added Jon Cohen, EVP Recorded Music at BMG. "Their uncompromising approach, vision and legion of fans have made them one of the most artistic and commercially successful acts in rock."

In addition to Howerdel, A Perfect Circle's current lineup includes Maynard James Keenan (Tool, Puscifer), James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins), Jeff Friedl (Devo, The Beta Machine) and Matt McJunkins (Eagles of Death Metal, The Beta Machine).

In April, the band will be embarking on their first North American tour in six years. The dates can be found at this location.

On 'Bloodlust'–out Friday, March 31 via Century Media Records–Body Count delivers a colossus that will send Tipper Gore and the PMRC into flashbacks.

It's stark mad and irate, a litany of lyrical missives that paint a four-dimensional picture of police brutality, racism and social inequality.

Tracks like "No Lives Matter," "Black Hoodie" and album opener "Civil War"–which features metal icon Dave Mustaine of Megadeth–pulse with a relevance and slam with a sense of urgency that's been missing for far too long.

White, black, blue, or red, the songs on 'Bloodlust' are colorblind, eviscerating any lines that might separate Ice-T's 'OG' roots or guitarist Ernie C's searing metal guitar play. The album contains a who's-who of guests including Megadeth's legendary Dave Mustaine on "Civil War," Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe on "Walk with Me," Sepultura/Soulfly icon Max Cavalera on "All Love Is Lost," and even a hell-raising cover of Slayer's classic "Reign in Blood."

Below, watch the video for "No Lives Matter" and you can pre-order 'Bloodlust' on iTunes.

The Ghost Inside guitarist Zach Johnson has revealed via Instagram that he will be undergoing major surgery on his femur due to an injury he sustained from the band's devastating 2015 bus accident. After undergoing a smaller, alternative procedure for the break back in September, the bone still has not fully healed, requiring additional and more invasive surgery. Johnson explained:

"So I'm sure some of you know my femur hasn't healed. I had a small surgery in September, and since then it's hurt like fucking hell. Our plan of action didn't work. April 13th I'll be going in for my twelfth surgery (a major one). They'll take all the hardware out of my right leg, take bone from my right tibia, and fuse it where the break is. Then put a metal plate over it, put a new metal rod running the length of my femur, and 2 screws in my knee, and 2 in my hip. I'm honestly not that stressed about the actual surgery, I've had so many it just seems normal to me now. What DOES suck is I'll be taking huge steps backwards in recovery, and will be off my feet for a few months. But I just want to get it done, and in the past. From there I can finally make permanent progress. I can't thank you all enough for being in my corner throughout this fight. It means the world to me! #TGIforever"

Revolver wishes Johnson a speedy recovery.

An Alice Cooper pinball machine will make its retail debut this fall via Spooky Pinball LLC. A video teaser for Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle game can be seen below.

Commented Spooky Pinball LLC in a statement: "YES! We are doing Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle. Here's what we can say for now. Lots of classic and modern Alice Cooper music! NOT a 'greatest-hits' package, (of course it has Coop favorites) but we selected what fits an awesome Spooky monster-filled adventure game.

"Matt Montgomery (Piggy D from Rob Zombie's band) is doing some awesome instrumental spooky ambiance music. Jeff Zornow is the artist doing the bad ass retro comic-style artwork you see in the backglass. That theme carries through the entire game."

BBDrummer.jpg

Butcher Babies have announced that touring drummer Chase Brickenden has officially joined the band, replacing Chris Warner. The news was shared in a post on the band's official Instagram account. The post, which you can see here, went on to say:

"Let's all give a BUTCHER welcome to our new drummer @chasethedrums! You may have seen him with us last year on tour with Megadeth, Knotfest USA and Knotfest Japan. He's a beast and we couldn't be more excited to what he brings to the band. After writing this entire new album with us, he is currently tracking drums to make your faces melt. Formerly, he has slayed the drums for Thrown Into Exhile, Otep, and more. Chase is a multistyle drummer that graduated from Musicians Institute and we feel ultra lucky to have him! This is our first line up change EVER. After 7 years with Chris, we want to wish him a happy new marriage and success in all that he does. CHEERS!!!! #butcherbabies"
